Augmented Model Procedure
3D models created from CT images give you accurate information on the hard and soft tissues, but do not show a detailed occlusion. To make a correct treatment plan the hard tissues, soft tissues and occlusion should be examined conjointly. A proprietary method in Maxilim allows you to create a 3D skull model augmented with highly detailed dentition models.
To obtain an augmented model a special protocol must be followed. Plaster casts are not needed anymore to obtain a highly detailed 3D representation of the occlusion. Three scans must be taken: the normal patient scan, a low dose dental scan while the patient is biting in a double-sided impression and a highly detailed scan of the double-sided impression. Contact us if you want to receive more information about the CT protocol.
