Introduction to 3D cephalometry and its clinical application, Hannover, Germany.

05-03-2005

Lecturer: Swennen G.R.J., MD DMD PhD

"Let´s try to give an interactive introduction towards 3D cephalometric of hard and soft tissues", said Dr. Swennen. A big challenge to combine a scientific foundation on 3D cephalometrics with practice experimenting.

And, yes, according to the participants, we succeeded! The course contained 4 sessions. Every block had a theoretical part and a practical part on the PC. Dr. Swennen explained the scientific foundation for 3D cephalometrics and focussed on his hard tissue and soft tissue analyses. The variety of landmarks was meticulously explained. The clinical importance of a 3D computerized analysis based on the combination of 2D cephalograms and on a 3D model of the skull and the skin was extensively demonstrated.

During the first session, the participants got familiar with the basics of Maxilim. All participants understood the look and feel of Maxilim easily, and could focus on the details of the analysis. At the end of the day, they were experiencing by themselves the precision and the possibilities that a planning system can offer them.

The enthusiasm of the participants convinced us to repeat this course in German, French and English!

Organised in collaboration with German board of Orthodontics and Orofacial Orthopedics.
