A Paradigm Shift in Orthognathic Surgery:
3-D Accelerated In-Office Orthognathic Surgery and Increased Orthodontic Efficiency

Organizing committee:

Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery & Orthodontics
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Baylor college of Dentistry

Who should attend:

This course is designed for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists and other surgical specialists and scientists.

This symposium will provide a challenging and comprehensive overview of how orthognathic surgery can be revitalized. It also aims to demonstrate to residents and practitioners the benefits of developing and working with new collaborative techniques. Attendees will learn techniques and technology developed by well-known scientists, orthodontists, surgeons and bioengineers who will serve as models for surgeons and orthodontists aspiring to be academicians, teachers or practicing clinicians. A new 3-D virtual approach allows diagnosis, treatment planning and evaluation of treatment outcomes in patients with maxillofacial deformities. Routine 3-D virtual planning for treatment of maxillofacial deformities is essential to offering efficient, rapid and predictable care at affordable costs in convenient office-based surgical centers.

The possibilities of 3-D image-based planning are explored in a PC hands-on workshop.
